A New Beginning!

Hello to all who know us and to those who are seeking us out,

We are officially moved to a new location (farm) as of this most recent winter holiday season and we are beginning again our place on earth. The winter was a doozy here but we and all the birds survived. We acquired a small Japanese tractor to work the acreage and have been planning and purchasing seeds. We have 4.5 acres to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs, and anything else edible. Although we have 225 adult laying hens and 4 roosters producing eggs and protecting the flock, respectively, as well as 300 new little chicks in our newly built brooder room, we plan on raising our birds down the road in the neighbor’s pasture. More on that endeavor later.

We have started over 20,000 onion seedlings at Kroul Farms greenhouse, as well as peppers, eggplant, broccoli, kohlrabi, cabbage, and herbs. While these are gaining strength, we will be building our very own greenhouse in the next 2-4 weeks! Very exciting. We are also pruning aforementioned neighbor’s orchard and we’ve planned to acquire a milking cow for the family.

Other activities: CSA memberships are being accepted. For more information, please email me. We are selling eggs at Deluxe Bakery and Echollective’s Saturday market, as well as our own ‘Winter Poultry Market’.

Thanks for reading the small farm report for the day.
